Dame Dash wants to end his differences with Jay-Z.
Over the weekend, Jay-Z was honoured with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as he was inducted by former US President Barack Obama, and comedian Dave Chappelle. During his speech, Hov acknowledged multiple people who helped in his career, including the friend turned foe Dame Dash. “Shout out to Dame,” Jay said. “I know we don’t see eye-to-eye, but I can never erase your accomplishments. And I appreciate you and I thank you for that.”
Dame Dash served as Jay-Z’s manager and business partner, as he co-founded the label Rock-A-Fella with Hov. The label was bought by Def Jam Recordings in 2004, which started the fall of their friendship. They had been taking shots at each other for over a decade. But after the latest shout-out from Jay-Z at the Hall of Fame ceremony, Dame Dash is ready to squash their differences.
In 1995, JAY-Z and Dash founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Kareem “Biggs” Burke. However, the label’s demise resulted in a nasty conflict between the former business partners, which has lately erupted over a Reasonable Doubt NFT. While they “don’t see eye to eye,” Dash told Page Six that the two had “accomplished too much to be beefing.” He also claimed he’ll always consider Hov a brother and spoke about the rapper’s entrance into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“It was beautiful,” Dash told Page Six. “I’m glad he said it for the culture. We need to squash everything. So hopefully if that was an extended [olive branch], I’ll spin one back.”
“I have no beef with [him] if [he has] no beef with me,” he added. “Let’s get the lawyers out of it then. Let’s talk like men, but I definitely appreciate it.”
