Daddy Yankee is saying goodbye to his musical career.
Daddy Yankee, the Puerto Rican rapper is taking retirement from his illustrated musical career, which kicked off in the early 1990s. The rapper has dropped 7 studio albums, with the most recent “Prestige”, which was released way back in 2012.
The “Gasolina” hitmaker has announced that he will leave the music with his next studio album “Legendaddy”, and a farewell tour “La Última Vuelta World Tour.” The five-month trek will kick off on August 10th in Portland, Oregon.
“Today, I’m announcing my retirement from music by giving you my best production and my best concert tour,” he said in a statement. “I will say goodbye celebrating these 32 years of experience with this new collector’s item, the album Legendaddy. I’m going to give you all the styles that have defined me, in one single album.”
His La Ultima Vuelta World Tour, which will last five months, will begin on August 10 in Portland, Oregon and will end in December. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale on March 25, followed by a full public sale on March 30.
Daddy Yankee has six No. 1 albums on the Top Latin Albums chart, beginning with 2004’s ‘Barrio Fino,’ the first reggaeton album to do so. As of March 2022, he had 76 entries on Latin Airplay and 86 on Hot Latin Songs, including the chart-topping ‘Despacito,’ which he co-wrote with Luis Fonsi.
