D12 Rapper Big Proof's Music Catalog Rights Finally Returned To His Family

Big Proof’s family now has a hold over his music rights.

The family of Big Proof, the former D12 member and Eminem’s childhood friend, now has complete ownership over his music catalog, after nearly 20 years of his death. Mark Hicks, the late rapper’s former manager, revealed the whole thing in a conversation with The Hoodsmokers Podcast.

He said: “The one thing that fans can feel really happy about is that Proof’s eldest son and his wife, they’ve got a lock back on his catalogue and his estate. When you stream on Spotify or YouTube, know that his children and his wife are over it.”

He also hints at release of unreleased music after the whole thing is settled: “They’ve got it in control now. It was so many years that it was like, this person had it, that person had it. It was like playing Whac-A-Mole. You didn’t know who had it. It’s so many people that have albums hid. They were about to just die with that sh-t, because most motherf–kers be like, ‘Oh, I’m just gonna wait for the right time to put it out.’ Thank the heavens that his oldest son is overseeing everything.”

On the Instagram, he revealed that Proof will feature on 2 songs on Eminem’s “Stans” documentary film soundtrack. However, there was no songs on the album which was released today. “Not to be redundant but I have so many people call, text or email me in concern about the Big Proof music estate UPDATE: in this last year FINALLY Proof’s wife (my sister Sharonda) & his children have control of his estate so now enjoy his only official album ‘Searching for Gerry Garcia’ his compilations ‘I Miss The Hip Hop Shop’, ‘Grown Man Shit’ on streaming sites + YouTube across the world. Plus, Proof has 2 new songs on the Eminem ‘Stans’ documentary soundtrack that comes out on August 26th, 2025.”
