Chuck D talks about doing a show with Eminem in Milan.
The founder of Iconic Public Enemy, and the member of Prophets of Rage, Chuck D sat down on Vlad Tv to talk about concerts getting bigger over time. Chuck D sat down with Vlad TV for a lengthy interview and in a segment about how different genres and technological advances change the hip hop scene, he mentioned the summer of 2018, when Prophets of Rage opened two European shows for Eminem as a support act.
He remembers doing a show with Eminem in Milan in front of 900k people around the summer of 2018. “So I played in front of 4 million people in four years of Prophets of Rage, it was only getting bigger.” said Chuck D. “We played with Eminem in Milian in front of 900,000 people. Yeah, 900,000 bro, last summer.”
Vlad couldn’t believe the number so he had to double-check with Chuck D just to confirm it.
When Vlad double-checked this statistic with Chuck D just to get confirmation, he sounded skeptical. Even with the massive displays that Chuck D credits for the ever-increasing number of concert attendees, it appears that this number is considerably over the capacity of Area Expo – Experience in Milano, where the show was held.
Eminem holds the record for the highest-grossing and most-attended solo concert ever by a hip-hop artist. Marshall’s sold-out event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2019 drew 80,708 Eminem supporters. It’s not even close to Chuck’s assertion. A hip-hop show with over 80,000 attendees is fantastic in and of itself and does not need to be exaggerated.
Also during the Lil Pump controversy, Chuck D, the iconic rap group Public Enemy’s leader and the vocalist of the rap-rock band Prophets of Rage, taught Lil Pump some fundamental math.
