Busta Rhymes opens up about struggles in personal and professional life.
Busta Rhymes was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award at BET Awards 2023 last week, and now rap pioneer sat down with Ebro Darden on Apple Music for a new interview. Among other topics in the interview, the rapper opened up about struggles in his personal and professional life in recent years, for which Pharrell and Swizz Beatz helped him get himself together.
“There’s been some times in the last four-five years where I needed to make some changes that was very serious changes, personally and professionally,” he says at 9:00 minute mark. “Because I’m the type of person where I love hard and I’m loyal to the point where it can be a burden as opposed to the loyalty being a blessing.”
He continued, “I became so complacent in this space that it was starting to harm me. And I needed to talk to somebody and try to help get a navigation to help me reach to the destination that I needed to reach to get up out of that, and get back to my happiness and my peace of mind.
“Pharrell and Swizz very specifically in this area of my life, in this time of my life, were just the two people that I was able to trust with my most vulnerable space.” “Not only did I trust [them] with the truth, them ni**as helped fix Bus Rhymes.”

The rapper is currently working on his next album, which will be produced by Swizz Beatz, Pharrell and Timbaland. It will be his eleventh studio album, a follow-up to 2020’s “Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God.” The rapper recently kicked off the campaign with the release of a new single “Beach Ball” which featured assistance from BIA.
