Alanis Morissette compares her one thing to Eminem.
Canadian singer Alanis Morissette recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live for a promo run of her latest project “Such Pretty Forks in the Mix.” A decade ago, Alanis Morisette was singing some fairly grim songs. Now she’s sharing a self-help podcast with humility and has just finished authoring a book on mindfulness. Early in her career, she released two albums in Canada with producer Leslie Howard. One of the singles, “Too Hot,” hit the top 20 on RPM, while the debut album, “Alanis,” went platinum.
During the interview, she compares one of her attributes to the Detroit rapper Eminem.
“I remember hearing the song and saying, ‘this is a scary, scary woman,’” says Jimmy.
“That’s great,” replies Alanis, “and it’s true.” says Kimmel, “But you didn’t seem that scary when we met you. You just seemed polite.”
“I think I had gotten it all out. Eminem and I have this thing where everyone assumes we are just going to come in and rip everything apart and scream at everybody. But we’ve gotten it out in our music, so by the time we see you, we’re very convivial.” says Morissette.
