A New Study Suggests That Drake's Music Makes You Run Slower

Drake’s music is not for fast runners, a study claims.

A sports playlist is never complete without some Hip-Hop music, but if you like to run fast, you shouldn’t add Drake’s songs. According to a new study by apparel brand Pour Moi, the Toronto rapper tops the list of music that makes you run slower.

The researchers analyzed data from 60 runs to find out which artists make you run faster and which slows you down. The study revealed that Drake‘s slow chill vibe music can add up to 21 seconds per kilometre to your running time. That equals 1:45 over 5K, and 14:42 over a marathon.

The next on the list is the Korean boy band BTS, as their music can add up to 9 seconds per kilometre to a run. They are followed by Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj and Katy on third, fourth and fifth respectively.

The study revealed an unexpected artist whose music makes you run fast. In the list of 15 artists, Beyonce tops the list as her music can make you run up to 33 seconds faster per kilometre. That equals 2:45 over 5K and a whopping 23 minutes over a marathon.

The next on the list are Harry Styles, Britney Spears, Adele and Taylor Swift. Britney Spears is third on the list; despite being famous in 1999, her instantly known pop songs are still enough to get us excited in 2021. So much so that playing ‘Baby One More Time,’ ‘Oops… I Did It Again,’ and ‘Toxic’ will increase your running pace by 28 seconds per kilometre, or a whole 2 minutes and 20 seconds off a three-mile run.

Adele (fourth), who has recently released her much-anticipated album ’30,’ was discovered to remove 19 seconds off each kilometre, making your three-mile jogging time almost one and a half minutes faster.
