Genius broke down why The Marshall Mathers LP is still a classic.
Eminem’s third studio album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP‘ completed 20 years and Em celebrated the anniversary with an announcement that he’s doing a listening part on 27th, along with a live chat where he will be answering questions. He also revealed limited edition MMLP20 stan Varsity Hoodie which will drop next week. Along with that, he also released remastered HD music videos from the MMLP album which you can see on his youtube.
The Detroit rapper pondered releasing it under a different name at one point. In an August 2000 feature, Em stated that he wanted to name the project after one of his favorite cities, Amsterdam. Em was so “irritated” by Dutch journalists during his first visit there that he composed several songs about them, in addition to the legal drugs it had to offer.
Shady took a journey to the Netherlands capital with SPIN journalist Mike Rubin to perform alongside Dr. Dre at a sold-out performance. Em liked his first visit to Amsterdam because it was the “Ecstasy-producing center of the globe,” but he was also inspired to name his album after the city since Dutch media got on his nerves.
