2 Chainz and Lil Wayne’s new joint effort is coming soon.
Following the release of “Dope Don’t Sell Itself” earlier this year, 2 Chainz is now in work with another joint project with Lil Wayne. The duo previously worked together on the 2016’s album “ColleGrove”, where only the Georgia rapper was credited as the primary artist due to Wayne’s record label issues.
This weekend, 2 Chainz was in Las Vegas and Mexico for two shows, which were followed by a studio session with Weezy. “Had a good weekend wit 2 shows in Vegas and one in Mexico in 2 days , now I’m about to crash I’m just walking out the studio , been in with @LilTunechi all night , let’s just say I’m Excited about our project,” he tweeted.

In a conversation with Akademiks earlier this year, the rapper talked about the new project with Wayne. “This one is definitely coming out this year,” he said. “We’re actually in the process of mixing it and [Lil Wayne’s] on every single song. We were in the studio together. I think the last time we were in the studio together maybe twice. This time, we’ve been in the studio together multiple times working on this project. Whether going back in after we’ve done something or whatever.”
He continued, “I feel super excited about this f**king project because it don’t sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before. And doing something like that with Wayne, it’s welcoming, it’s warming and it’s going to be accepted.”
Lil Wayne has been one of the top collaboration artists of the past year, where he provided multiple amazing verses. In August 2021, the rapper also linked up with Rich The Kid for a collab mixtape “Trust Fund Babies“, which was released through Young Money Entertainment, Republic Records, and Rostrum Records.
The first album was released in 2016, and both rappers had been hinting about the second part for years. 2 Chainz stated that the pair had “plenty” more music in the works, while Weezy stated that it is “already done.” Tity Boi teased ColleGrove 2 online two years later, adding, “Me and my brother has another 1 on the road.”
In March 2016, ColleGrove debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. While it was first advertised as a joint collaboration between the rappers, due to Weezy’s label issues, 2 Chainz ended up obtaining credit as the lead artist.
