Will Smith Reveals He & LL Cool J Discussed A Possible VERZUZ Battle

Will Smith talked to LL Cool J about a Verzuz battle.

VERZUZ battle is one of the trendings topics in Hip-Hop for the last couple of years, and many current, as well as old school artists, took the stage to battle one another. Will Smith, who had a fair share in the music before becoming a successful actor, revealed that he’s also up for a VERZUZ showdown.

The 53-year-old is currently on the promo run for his new memoir “Will” and made a visit to Sway In The Morning show. During the interview, the hosts asked the “I Am Legend” actor if he had ever considered going up for a Verzuz battle, to which he said that he already discussed it with LL Cool J.

“Yeah, you know I was thinking about that. Me and L, we’re talking about doing one,” Will Smith said. “But I never had a chance to—I was writing my book … L is going to body me.”

“What’s dope about Will, though, Will and L was out when the era when it was the DJ and the rapper,” said the co-host Heather B. “It was Eric B. and Rakim, Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince. Everybody had their DJ, so don’t let [DJ Jazzy] Jeff on the turn tables.”

“That’s my secret weapon right there,” Smith responded.

Will’s new book has also gotten a lot of buzz. In it, he remembers how he couldn’t be friends with Tupac Shakur, who was one of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s greatest pals. “Though they were never intimate, their love for each other is legendary — they define ‘ride or die,’” Will wrote in the book. “In the beginning of our relationship, my mind was tortured by their connection. He was ‘PAC and I was me.”

Previously, Fat Joe revealed that LL Cool J also showed interest in doing a Verzuz battle. “LL Cool J, let me tell you, he’s my idol,” Joe said on The Morning Hustle earlier this year. “I wouldn’t even feel right, you know what I’m saying? I rap ’cause of him,” said Joe before adding, “LL wants JAY-Z or Drake. That’s who LL COOL J allegedly wants, Jay-Z or Drake.”

In his music career, Will Smith released four studio albums, all of them earning multiple plaques. Smith’s debut album “Big Wi**ie Style” is closing in on an RIAA Diamond as it’s currently 9x Platinum.
