Snoop Dogg interviews ScHoolboy Q on GGN.
After taking a break from his GGN (Double G News Network) interview series for a bit, Snoop Dogg is once again active as he returns with another new episode that features ScHoolboy Q. On the show, ScHoolboy talks about his upcoming album and the problem with sample clearances which led to a funny conversation. He also talks about his previous drug habits, writing songs when he was high, playing golf, possible TDE tour, losing weight, and much more.
Schoolboy Q appeared on Snoop Dogg’s GGN YouTube series on Tuesday afternoon. The two discussed the process of creating albums, a potential TDE tour, and more.
Schoolboy Q began his career as a gangsta rapper in Los Angeles in the mid-2000s. He signed with TDE in 2009 and formed Black Hippy, which included himself, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul. Black Hippy would go on to become a hip-hop supergroup just a few years later, with Tech N9ne dubbing them “the new NWA” and the Doggfather himself claiming that TDE’s rock-star skills topped even Death Row Records’ rep, where Snoop got his start.
The subject definitely hit a nerve with Snoop. The Chronic and his debut album Doggy style featured funk classics by George Clinton, Parliament, and others. “I’ve done that 100 times when we had to change a song,” Snoop interjected. “I’m like cuz, I don’t even like it no more. You done f**ked my whole song up. I was trying to get you some bread! Your old a*s sitting at home doing nothing, watching M*A*S*H.”
Schoolboy Q said a TDE tour could follow the completion of his labelmates’ albums at 14 minutes into the chat. He went on to state that there were a few loose ends to tie up, including sample clearances.
