Watch Royce da 5'9 Talks About Eminem Em is Not A Rapper No More, He's Like A Superhero

Royce da 5’9″ calls Eminem A Superhero.

Slaughterhouse may be on pause for the time being, but that doesn’t mean members of the collective aren’t still friendly with Shady Records’ founder. Eminem has maintained a personal and professional working connection with Royce Da 5’9″ over the years, and the rapper was recently questioned if he likes to work alone in the studio or collaborate with other musicians.

Royce used Em, Preme, and Slaughterhouse to explain the differences in how much work is put into a project in an interview with DJ Smallz.

Royce da 5’9″ is currently on the promo run for his new album ‘The Allegory‘ which is releasing this Friday. For a new interview, Royce sat down with DJ Smallz to talk about his project, Biggest Mistake rappers make & how to prevent it, Money Advice from Dr. Dre, how he Overcame Alcoholism & Infidelity, his Mom & Dad, and much more. Royce da 5’9″ also revealed which project he prefers, his solo project, Bad Meets Evil with Eminem, PRhyme, or Slaughterhouse.

I don’t prefer one over the other,” Royce said. “Slaughterhouse, I gotta do a little more work. When I’m working with Marshall, I don’t have to do as much work. When I’m working with Preme, I still don’t have to do as much work because he’s gon’ make all the beats. He’s gon’ mix everything. I get a little meticulous when it comes to approving mixes, but outside of that, all I really gotta do is rap in those two situations. So, that’s one of the things that makes those two situations, it makes me look forward to doing them.

The song, titled “Perspective – Skit,” has Em talking over a sad rhythm about how rap has brought people together, as well as how important representation in media means for youth. “But you’ve got people of all races, like, coming together and helping shape this from the ground up,” he starts the track. “So now you got little white kids growin’ up with black idols. And you got black kids growin’ up with white idols. And you got—it’s just this whole mixing pot. Nothing has brought more races and more people from all different walks of life together than hip-hop. No music has done that, I don’t think anything has done that as much as hip-hop has.”

Royce was answering inquiries regarding his Shady Records label mates’ collaborations. The acclaimed lyricist, who has a personal and professional working relationship with Eminem, said he didn’t have to put in a lot of effort when the two collaborated.

Royce Continued, “Now, the Slaughterhouse thing, it’s an interesting situation because it’s something that we built. It’s something that we built that some people didn’t believe in. So, it’s always sweeter being in that kinda situation. It’s more of us, there’s another rapper, more than just one other rapper.” He interrupted his thought to say that he doesn’t even classify Eminem as an emcee. Em ain’t even a rapper no more, He’s like a superhero.

He then went on to explain that Slaughterhouse was “a lotta fun” since they’d get together and drink late into the night when they’d “all become comedians in our own little way. It was fine working on it. But I don’t know if I could say that I prefer one over the other. I love all of them, they served me in all different ways, all these situations served me in different ways, I enjoyed each one of them.”

Eminem became the first male artist to have 10 consecutive studio albums debut at number one on the charts when he released his 11th studio album Music To Be Murdered By (MTBMB) on January 17. MTBMB received mixed reviews, with some celebrating the 47-year-old rapper for exhibiting exceptional talents on the mic while others praising him for being capable of pulling off commercial smashes like he did in the early 2000s.
