Nick Cannon thinks Eminem is the first rapper to push pill-popping in Hip-Hop.
Nick Cannon recently appeared on Vladtv to talk about the various problems in hip-hop, especially drug abuse. They talk about Lil Wayne’s recent run-in with the law after federal agents raided his private jet and found cash, firearm, bullets, and some drugs. Nearly $26,000 in cash, bullets, and a weapon were discovered, as well as suspected substances like marij***a, cocaine, and prescription-strength cough syrup. According to the Miami-Herald, no charges have been filed yet; but, if the case gets to court, Wayne might face prison time.
Nick Cannon said that the big reason for hip-hop’s drug problem is glorification from the previous rappers. “Since, you know, certain artists started glorifying drug culture, and doing drugs, Who is the first rapper you heard popping pills?” Cannon asked, hinting at Eminem’s name to Vlad. “In fact, his first CD had a drawing of pills being broken in half,” Vlad added.

Nick Cannon continued, “I idolized Snoop. We smoke weed. All this pill-Poppin’ generation, I idolize E-40. We sell drugs, we don’t take ’em. It’s f**ked up, man. And you (ask) where we place the blame. I only know to place the blame on people who control the indoctrinated institutionalization, Someone has to bring this stuff to us. Someone has to glorify this stuff in order for us to do it. And the only reason I’m saying that is because I believe it’s our duty to shift it. It’s our duty to say, ‘No, poppin’ pills ain’t cool. F**kin’ eatin’ healthy is cool. F**kin’ educatin’ yourself is cool. F**kin’ understandin’ a plant-based diet is cool“.
Since Em dissed Nick on the Fat Joe song “Lord Above” in December 2019, Nick and Shady have started feuding again. Since then, Nick has sent Eminem a slew of diss tracks, none of which have garnered a response on wax. Despite this, Nick has continued to criticize the Detroit rap legend. Em’s high status in rap, according to the founder of Wild ‘n Out, is solely due to systemic prejudice.
