Nardwuar interviews Lil Nas X at Rolling Loud Festival.
With his six weeks of the hit “Old Town Road” Lil Nas continually dominating the Billboard Hot 100, Nardwuar’s interview seemed unavoidable. After a short interview with Young Thug, Nardwuar also caught up with Lil Nas X at Rolling Loud Festival in Miami this past weekend. After receiving some gifts from Nardwuar, Lil Nas talks about a bit of history and his super skills on the internet.
Lil Nas X performed his record-breaking single, Nardwuar asked the 20-year-old phenom a series of questions surrounding his come-up and artistic hopes. From discussing his father’s velvety Gospel voice to gifting him with a country-inspired belt buckle, the two made for an entertaining, succinct interview.
The most memorable scene occurs right at the start when Nardwuar gives X a 60-year-old country song magazine and makes a note on a picture of Johnny Cash. X then goes on to inform Nardwuar that Billy Ray Cyrus told him that he looks like the late Nashville singer. “Billy told me I reminded him of him,” Lil Nas said.
