Kendrick Lamar visits Power 106.
Kendrick Lamar is on a promo run for his upcoming tour with Travis Scott and D.R.A.M. as he stopped by the Power 106 for an exclusive interview. On the show, he talks about his sister’s graduation gift, how he thinks about the video while writing a song, the biggest check he’s ever crashed, Prodigy and more.
According to reports, Kendrick has as many as 30 songs written for the follow-up to 2012’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, but he only loves seven of them during the interview. He further claimed that Ronald Isley not only agreed to sample the Isley Brothers’ “That Lady” on I but actually recorded ad-libs for the song. He also discussed the “Control” verse and his friendships with Drake and J. Cole.
K. Dot also lists his “Top 5 Hip Hop Artists – Dead Or Alive”. He said “Yeah. I got a Top 5. Give me Jay (JAY-Z), this is any order too, give me Em (Eminem), give me Pac (2Pac), give me BIG (Notorious B.I.G) and give me Snoop (Snoop Dogg. These are the cast that inspired me the most and if you break down how I approach lyrics you can hear the influence from each and everyone on this list.” Check it out below.
