Eminem drops part 3 of his interview with Sway Calloway. Talks about BET Cypher, Joyner Lucas & others.
After giving us Part one and two in the last couple of days, Eminem has released part 3 of his interview with Sway Calloway. In the third part, Eminem talks about his BET Cypher verse, people burning their Nikes recently, dissing Tyler on ‘Fall’, going too far on songs in general, and more.
“Because Agent Orange just sent the Secret Service/To meet in person to see if I actually thought of hurtin’ him/Or ask if I’m linked to terrorists,” Em raps on “The Ringer.” His Trump-targeted BET Hip-Hop Awards cypher from October 2017 is referenced in the bars. Sway inquired if the Secret Service had stopped him, and he confirmed that they had. Em states: “They came to my studio. They were just basically asking me questions about my lyrics to see what the intent was behind them and if I was making an actual threat or just expressing myself.”
Em also briefly discusses the backlash he received for the previously mentioned cypher. While he understands the criticism, he says he does not regret the rhyme. “At least when sh*t is all said and done, maybe I can just be on the right side of history.”
Sway asks Em near the end of the interview what he likes about Joyner Lucas (who appears on “Lucky You”), and Em only has positive things to say about the Massachusetts rapper. “The first time I saw him was like five years ago at one of the BET cyphers,” he said. “I peeped how he was saying a lot of lines—I saw some of me in that. Early on in my career, I wanted to write until my shit stands out and he stood out so much to me.”
Eminem recently dropped the new video for the collaboration with Joyner Lucas ‘Lucky You’ here.
