Don Toliver talks about Eminem collaboration “No Regrets”.
Don Toliver who recently released his new album ‘Heaven or Hell‘, made a visit to Rap Life with Ebro Darden on Apple Music for a new interview. On the show, Don Toliver talked about his recent collaboration ‘No Regrets‘ with Eminem and revealed that it was in fact the Detroit rapper who reached out to him.
“I was in the Cactus Jack studio… and I was recording, so I got that whiff of that and we flipped that on and did that quick,” said Don Toliver.
“I think Em was already on tip of what I had going on but who really I think plugged the spot was D.A. Got That Dope,” he stated, referring to D.A. Doman. Toliver subsequently said that it took him “an hour, two hours” to complete his contribution to the song, which would be published a few days later as part of the album.
Em reflects on his troubled past and difficult upbringing on the track, concluding that “he wouldn’t change [anything]” if he could go back in time and do it all over again, while Don delivers the track’s emotional chorus, which serves as an introspective look into their own origins and how they affect their loved ones.
Em also tackles some of his more recent and well-publicized beefs in recent years, including names like Nick Cannon, Machine Gun Kelly, and Tyler, The Creator. Don expresses his anguish at being alone, but he is still working hard to avoid having any regrets.
The Ebro then asked Don Toliver who he believes put him on Eminem’s radar, to which he replied, “I think Em was already on tip of what I had going on but who really I think plugged the spot was D.A. Got That Dope,” he said, referring to producer D.A. Doman. Toliver later revealed that it took him about a couple of hours to turn in his chorus to the song, which released as part of the ‘Music To Be Murdered By‘ album a few days later. The latest Eminem album debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 and featured guest appearances from Black Thought, Royce 5’9″, Ed Sheeran, Juice WRLD, Anderson .Paak, Skylar Grey, KXNG Crooked, Young M.A., and more.
Four singles accompanied Heaven or Hell: “No Idea,” “Can’t Feel My Legs,” “Had Enough,” and “After Party.” Outside of his performance on the track “Can’t Say” from Travis Scott’s album, Astroworld, which peaked at 38 on the Hot 100 in 2018, “No Idea” became his highest-charting song on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at 43.
