Tyler, The Creator reflects on being a rapper.
Tyler, The Creator is prepping the release of the “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST” deluxe album “The Estate Sale” which is scheduled to drop this Friday. Ahead of the release, Okonma sat down with Spotify’s RapCaviar Presents docuseries, which dropped on Hulu.
In one of the clip shares on social media, Tyler explains why being a rapper is “awesome”. “I’m a rapper. I love that sh*t. It’s a beautiful thing,” he said. “We’re good with words. We’re good with rhythm. We know pockets. We hear a collection of sounds and one thing and say, ‘Ahh, I know what could go over this,’ that takes a skill.”
“Hey, we know the narrative. Ah, I know what you’re feeling. I know how to put those in words. Where you can understand yourself better. Being a rapper is awesome. We’re great storytellers. Being a rapper is awesome.” “But you could be multiple choice,” he added. “You could be into this and you could be into this, and you could be into that. It’s A, B, C. ”
He continued, “I’m a rapper. I’m also a producer. I’m also a f**king hot dog. You got some young kid like 13 thinking, ‘Oh I got to make bravado rap, [or] damn I gotta talk about what you think you would have to talk about in a rap song,’ [but] no, you don’t. You could flex about the sh*t that you truly hold here and make it seem like ths most important sh*t.” “When I’m flexing on these songs, it’s just about the sh*t that I really like.”
