Thirstin Howl III talks about being on Rap Olympics with Eminem.
Thirstin Howl III, the rapper from Brownsville Brooklyn, who owns and operates his own label Skillionaire Enterprises, recently sat down with Off the Cuff Radio where he talks about being in the Rap Olympics with Eminem in 1997, how he used to hang out with the Detroit Rapper and more.
“That was a beautiful experience man,” says Thirstin on being with Eminem at Rap Olympics 1997. “Gotta learned a lot, all my team members and you know being surrounded by a whole team of hungry battle freestyle rappers that will attack you at all times. That would sharpen you up even more. Everybody on my team was top-notch off the head was super skilled with it.”
“You met Eminem before he became Eminem that we know today. What was it like meeting marshall at that time when he was still starting out? Because if everybody knows their history about it, he lost the rap Olympics but his tape ended up being passed to Dr. Dre by Paul Rosenberg. That’s how he found his fame but what was it like seeing him early on in those days. Did you know that he was headed for the thing that he was headed for,” asks the host.

“Yeah I believe that I noticed it but I think we both felt the same way about each other, the feeling was mutual,” says Thirstin. “Where we both expected big things out of each other’s career. Eminem was really the truth, I believe he felt the same about me, and we always promise that whoever makes it first will be on each other’s albums. Eminem use to even come and hang out in Brownsville with me man. He was really skilled, he’s really the truth man, I can’t take anything away from that man. I’ll be hearing all these other people try to say he got this from so and so over, that man was exactly the way he was when I met him. He was a super MC, very humble very cool very down to earth, we got along well. A lot of times we wouldn’t even talk man, our whole conversation would be in rap form and freestyle, how hungry we were for it.”
Are the Rap Olympics still a thing? Well, it was and Juice Won 1997. In his whole career, Eminem has only lost one battle. This Rap Olympic battle took place in 1997.
In the same skirmish, he spat the punchlines, “You ain’t going to sell 2 Copies if you publish a double-album.” and “You can’t make your followers throw up their hands if they swallowed their fingers.”
But, sadly, he utilized it in Round 3. Juice kept all of the jokes about Em being white, Trailer Trash, and so on for the Final Round. Eminem was evicted one night before the 1997 Rap Olympics and had to break into his own home to sleep on the floor before flying to Los Angeles for the battle.
