Skylar Grey Says Eminem Once Told Her I Can't Have You on Every Song of My Album

Skylar Grey reveals once writing four songs for an Eminem album.

The singer/songwriter Skylar Grey recently sat down on Bedroom Beethovens Podcast for a new interview where she talks about working on new things in lockdown, enjoying the freedom of independence. On the show, Skylar Grey also talks about once writing four songs for an Eminem project.

Everybody just wants to have the best chance with their music all the time, even big people like Eminem,” says Skylar. “He told me one time because I think for one album I wrote four songs, he was like, “I can’t have you sing every song on my record.

Then the host of the show suggested her to do a full project with the Detroit rapper, just like he has once with Royce da 5’9″. Skylar responds to the suggestion and says, “That would be cool.

Skylar also recently delved into her “Rejected” folder, a collection of songs that she had written for other artists but never made it to the final stages of production. She decided to share some of these tracks with her fans, revealing that this folder is filled with hidden gems. These songs showcase Skylar’s versatility as a songwriter and her ability to create music that appeals to a wide range of audiences. The songs in the “Rejected” folder are a testament to Skylar’s creative genius and the breadth of her artistic abilities.

Recently, Grey thanked Slim Shady in a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday (December 26), thanking him for more than doubling her Spotify monthly listeners and launching her career. “Because of Black Magic, my @Spotify surpassed 4 million monthly listeners today… which is double what it was just a couple weeks ago,” she captioned a photo of herself and Mr. Marshall Mathers. “I want to take this moment to publicly express my gratitude for Marshall and everything he has done for me in the past 10 years. When he cut ‘Love The Way You Lie,’ my career was suddenly on fire. And he could have stopped there… but he didn’t.

In another interview, Skylar reflected on how creating “Love The Way You Lie” was an indication of her rediscovering her voice after a breakup with the music business, which was both a coincidence and a logical move in her career.

“Songwriting has always been my passion. Whether it was me performing a song or not, the creation process has been my passion more than anything else. And maybe it led me to write songs to other people but it certainly happened by accident. I got into the music industry thinking that I was going to sing my own songs”

“And then writing “Love The Way You Lie” has changed my life. I had a really hard time in the music industry, my first round in it. I went by the name of Holly Brook. At that time Linkin Park had a label under Warner Brothers and I signed to them”

In 2020, Eminem and Skylar Grey collaborated on another new song titled “Last One Standing” for “Venom: Let There Be Carnage“ movie soundtrack. The song also featured assistance from Mozzy and Polo G. It was Mozzy’s first entry overall and Skylar Grey’s first entry as a lead artist on the US Billboard Hot 100 when it debuted at number 78.
