Royce Da 5’9″ talks Eminem’s beef with Lord Jamar on Talib Kwel’s People’s Party.
Royce Da 5’9″ recently sat down with Talib Kweli on his “People’s Party with Talib Kweli” show with the co-host Jasmin Leigh for a new interview. In one of the parts of the show, the hosts asked Royce about him stepping into Eminem’s beef with Lord Jamar. Slaughterhouse MC promotes open dialogue and the burying of all grudges in the name of unity. Royce talks while walking, and one of the wars he just ended is the big quarrel between Lord Jamar, Eminem, and himself.
While Royce’s year may have taken a turn for the worse by the time March rolled around, he was off to a strong start with work on Eminem’s Music To Be Murdered By and his own self-produced CD The Allegory. Nickle has used his position since then to address a variety of urgent cultural topics, ranging from racism to politics to the music industry itself. Royce recently shared a tape from a prior interview he did with Talib Kweli’s People’s Party, in which he discussed Eminem and Lord Jamar.
“Media called Eminem the King of Hip-Hop, he didn’t call himself the king of Hip-Hop, or some magazine called him that,” said Royce. “Lord Jamar was speaking on that, it was almost like Jamar was responding to Em saying that he’s the king. Vlad was hyping up a little bit, he was just talking about he doesn’t f**k the sh*t that Em talks about, people don’t listen to Em in the hood, all that type of sh*t. Lord Jamar on twitter said that Eminem has no real contribution to Hip-Hop, that can be debunked, like this can be fact base, And I was like Lord Jamar I wanna challenge you but I promise I will be respectful, that was my exact words. I said Em put me in Business, he put D12 on, he made all of them rich, he signed 50 Cent, all of these things a legitimate contribution, face base contribution, he’s done his part so far. We just disagreed on that, that was it.”
