Remy Ma Says That Big Pun Wanted To Smash Eminem in a Collaboration

Remy Ma says Big Pun wanted to demolish Eminem in a track.

One of the greatest rap lyricists Big Pun, who passed away in 2000 after suffering a heart attack, wanted to destroy Eminem by getting on a track with him. Remy Ma recently did a live session with Fat Joe where she revealed Big Pun’s goal.

One of the greatest MCs of all time, who rose to notoriety in the 1990s as an unrivaled wordsmith, had a dream of collaborating with Eminem on a record. This was brought up during a chat between Remy Ma and Fat Joe, two musicians who had significant roles in Big Pun’s career. Big Punisher, according to Remy Ma, was a fierce competitor who would hop on any song to punish anyone who dared to challenge him. At the same time, his gaze was drawn to a budding Detroit star.

“The only discussion we had,” she began. “And he put it to me, and he’s talking about doing a song with anybody, any cypher. [His] goal was to kill everybody. So at the time, that’s when ‘John Blaze’ was out, and ‘Banned From TV.’ He felt like out of all those records, he had to watch for that muthafukka Jadakiss ‘cause he gon’ do what he do.” “I can honestly say he was waiting for Eminem,” says Remy. “Like that was his thing. He was like, I can’t wait to get on a track with Em, that was his goal. Out of his lips, he told me that.”

Fat Joe, the man who discovered Big Pun and remained by his side throughout his brief but eventful career, was taken aback by the news. He envisioned how harsh that collabo would have sounded right away: “You know, Pun would have went blow-for-blow. They’d have been on triple time. They were similar. They had that psychotic wordplay and that far-fetched things that nobody thinks of saying… So I would have definitely loved to hear like that turned out.”

Remy Ma revealed that Big Punisher was highly competitive and would take on any song to outdo anyone who dared to challenge him. However, he also had a keen interest in a rising artist from Detroit.

I can honestly say that he was waiting for Eminem. That was his thing. He was like, “I can’t wait to get on a track with him”. That was his goal. Out of his lips, he told me. He cannot wait for the song to come with him and Eminem. That’s what he was waiting for. I couldn’t wait either. I was excited!

During a short career of 5 years, Big Pun was dope on the mic and it would’ve been a treat for Hip-Hop if he went on head-to-head with the Slim Shady on a song together.
