Papoose says he would love to work with Eminem.
New York rapper Papoose recently appeared on Gray Rizzy’s show on Shade 45 where he talks about his new album Endangered Species, collabs from French Montana, the artists that inspired him over the years, and more. Papoose was blown away by Eminem’s “Killshot” diss track. Slim Shady’s hard-hitting Machine Gun Kelly war rap has gotten a response from the former reality TV star. This week, Papoose took to Instagram to argue that Eminem performed a high-quality lyrical assault on MGK. Murda Mook, a fellow New York rapper, had a similar reaction to Em’s diss track.
At around the 15:00 minute mark, the host also asked him about an artist he wants to work with. “You’ve had the chance to work with a lot of dope producers, a lot of dope artists in your career, is it anybody, is there anybody though that it comes close but it didn’t happen and you regret that it didn’t happen,” asks Gray Rizzy.
“Oh man I can’t see it’s come close But I actually did meet Eminem before,” he says. “I met him when we did the BET performance and you know just being a fan of his lyricism. I was surprised he knew who I was, you know what I mean, ‘yo what up pap,’ that’s somebody I would love to work with, I would love to do a track with him, that would be like an honour, I could splash that off my bucket list.”
Gray Rizzy: We in the right place to put that energy out (Both laughs).
Papoose continues, “When Em do the albums, I always buy all his albums, I make sure I buy em. And I noticed that he just reached out to random artists and like ‘yo I want you on this hook.’ You don’t have to be a big artist, So I’ll be like yo man, I’ll be just, my phone is open brother, I would love to get that call bro.”
Papoose has back with a new album, January, which was released as a surprise. During an interview with the HollywoodLife Podcast, Papoose disclosed that he wants to retire by the end of 2021: “After this year, I’m not rapping no more. So, I just want to make sure I make it special. I’m done. I’m done,” he revealed. “I’ve grown in life. I’m in a different space in my life now. So many people who wanted to see me be successful in music, they’re not even here anymore.”
