Melle Mel questions Lil Wayne’s GOAT status over autotune use.
Melle Mel continues to argue over Billboard & Vibe’s recently released top 50 best rappers list as he now talked about the number 7th rank Lil Wayne. During the interview on The Art Of Dialogue, the Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five legend comments on Wayne’s position, and the recent Wayne statement that he should be number 1 on the list.
“He’s wrong,” responds. “You don’t even know his real voice. If his voice is on autotune, was something wrong with his voice for them to put the autotune on his voice? Or was it just something that they did in the studio to give it that rawness? But how could you know.”

The revelations follow Wanye’s own assertions about the list in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “Man, who the hell is before me?” Weezy said after Lowe asked his thoughts. “Was the list including ALL Hip Hop, like before and after as well? I can deal with that.”
Previously, Melle Mel made comments about Kendrick Lamar and Eminem and stated that no one wants to rap like them. “I don’t know what records he made like that,” he said. “I might know one or two of them, but I don’t think you even hear Kendrick in the club like that.” “Nobody wants to rap like Kendrick Lamar. Nobody wants to rap like Eminem. A lot of people wanted to rap, like ‘Pac and Biggie,” he added.
