Mary J. Blige talks about the Super Bowl Halftime show with Dr. Dre, Eminem and more.
As announced, the Hip-Hop icons Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige will join forces for a historic performance at Super Bowl Halftime Show in February. The Bronx artist recent sat down with Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen show, where she reflected on the upcoming performance at the 56th Super-Bowl show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The five performers, who have a total of 43 Grammy Awards and 22 No. 1 Billboard albums between them, will perform together for the first time on Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The show will be produced by Roc Nation, the Jay-Z-founded entertainment firm. In the release announcing the show, Jay-Z said, “Dr. Dre, a musical visionary from Compton, Snoop Dogg, an icon from Long Beach and Kendrick Lamar, a young musical pioneer in his own right, also from Compton, will take center field for a performance of a lifetime.”
The host reminded that this will be Mary J. Blige’s second time on the Super-Bowl stage, and asked her if she’s nervous or cool with it. “I’m cool. I’m Cool. I mean, it’s the world that’s gonna be watching but I think I’ll be alright.”
She continues, “The first time I did it I was in the background with Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and I was just in the background but I’m gonna be in the front with all my peers which is Dre, Snoop, Eminem and Kendrick. I’m a Queen of Hip-Hop Soul.”
“The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career,” Dr. Dre said in a statement previously. “I’m grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment.”
