Logic Reveals He Made Vinyl Days Album In 12 Days To Get Off Def Jam Label

Logic says he made his latest project in a couple of weeks to leave Def Jam.

Logic recently dropped his new album “Vinyl Days“, which debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 with sales of over 35,000 equivalent units. The album was teased throughout this year, but it is now revealed that it was made in just under two weeks to end contractual obligations with Def Jam Recordings.

The rapper was the latest guest on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, where he showed his excitement about going independent. “I made that album in 12 days so I could get off Def Jam,” he said. “That’s my favorite part… I’m off Def Jam. I made that album so I could leave, and guess what? I left them with some of the dopest sh*t I could give them. It’s not like I just wiped my a*s. What am I excited about? I’m excited to be independent, I’m excited to do my thing.”

“I’m really happy to know that I represented and low-key was the face of the label… one of the illest Hip Hop labels of all time. And that I sold millions and millions of records and gave them billions and billions of streams, and that it was a good partnership. And I couldn’t be happier to get the f**k out.”

However, the 32-year-old has been vocal in his criticism of the label over the years, accusing them of not paying his contributors and mishandling his albums. “@defjam can you please pay my friends and musicians that have made my albums great this is ridiculous at this point!” he said in October 2020. “I shouldn’t be getting calls from close friends of mine in the middle of dinner with my Wife about how YOU haven’t paid them from the budget you’ve given me for this album.”

The Maryland rapper signed with Def Jam back in 2013 and released several albums through the label. The albums include “Under Pressure“, “The Incredible True Story,” “Everybody,” “Young Sinatra IV,” “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” “No Pressure“, “Bobby Tarantino” mixtape trilogy and his most recent effort “Vinyl Days”.
