Drake revealed that there was considerable disagreement between the three rappers over Kanye and Jay’s contributions to Views highlight “Pop Style.” “Yeah, I was dealing with ‘Ye, and that’s the version he showed me, and that’s what we spoke about, and he was like, ‘Man, you know this is like ‘Pop Style’ with The Throne, this is massive,’ and I was obviously delighted. Anyone would be delighted to have them re-join. And then I had no idea what I was going to hear “He said. “So when I heard Jay had two lines, I was like, well, that’s what it is, it’s great, I like it, it’s a small intro then Kanye goes off.”
Check out some key points and interview below.
On working with Dr. Dre: Drake tells the story of working with Dr. Dre and being kicked out of Detox sessions for celebrating a $10,000 check. Drake says he still has the hard copy and showed it to Dre when he brought him out in LA 4 years ago.
On GRAMMYs: He says that someone from the GRAMMY panel told him to ‘blame Donald Trump’ for not winning awards.
On beef with Meek Mill: Drake talks on Meek Mill lashing out, “I’m sitting here thinking you’re ready for it. I thought this was like 3 months in the making. When I dropped ‘Charged Up’ just to see what the preparation level was I realised ‘you’re not ready’. I knew I had to retaliate because I realised he was unprepared.”
On ‘Back to Back’: “My biggest focus the entire time was ‘I cannot disrespect Nicki Minaj’. I respect revenge when it’s warranted and it was warranted. I’m not proud of it. It didn’t feel great but that’s what had to happen at the time.”
The full interview will be available on Monday.
