Lil Wayne reveals he had a conversation with Kendrick Lamar.
Lil Wayne has clarified that it’s all good between him and Kendrick Lamar following the controversy regarding Super Bowl halftime show. Weezy previously showed disappointed after not getting picked for Super Bowl halftime show at his hometown next year.
Now in a new interview with his good friend Skip Bayless, Wayne reveals it’s all good with his “Mona Lisa” collaborator. “I’ve spoken to him and I wished him all the best and told him he better kill it. He gotta kill it,” he said.
Bayless then asked Wayne about being namedropped on Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” album track “wacced out murals”. “That was my first time hearing it,” he reveals. “I think he’s a fan like I’m a fan of his music. I think he meant he saw what everyone else saw, he saw how much it meant to me… He didn’t let me down.”
“There was no explanation that was needed for that. I think I understand those words. His hard work is the reason why he made it there, and obviously that part about letting me down is me just being upset and disappointed about not getting that spot.”
On the “wacced out murals”, Lamar rapped: “I used to bump Tha Carter 3, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hardwork let Lil Wayne down.” “Got the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me, all these ni–as agitated I’m just glad it’s on they faces.”
While Wayne says he heard the song first time, he did seemingly reacted to it on social media. “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love,” he wrote on his X.
