Kid ‘n Play’s Christopher Martin talks about Eminem.
Christopher Martin, one half of Kid ‘n Play, the popular New York Hip-Hop duo in the late 1980s and early 1990s, recently sat down with DJ Vlad for an interview on Vlad TV. Vlad asks Martin about him posting Eminem’s picture wearing their group’s album cover shirt during one of his 2019 shows in Abu Dhabi. Vlad then mentions KXNG Crooked interview where Eminem reveals he does that so the younger generation can look after some of the legends he was influenced by.
“When I saw Eminem with our shirt on, I was like, ‘Yo, that’s love’,” says Christopher. “I remember back in the days before he came out, And I ran into Dr. Dre and Dr. Dre told me he was coming out. Dre said, ‘Yo, I’ve got a white boy’. And all I’m thinking is, if this dude’s got a white boy, this white boy must be f**king…he must be spazzing. And then like three weeks later, ‘Hi, my name is’. No, that’s love, and I think real true hip-hoppers and artists, we feel that way. So yeah, if he’s giving us some shine, But it was just weird seeing it. I was just, like, wow. I was like, ‘this dude likes Kid ’n Play? Hey, alright. Mama, I made it’.”
