Jhene Aiko reveals her Top 5 Rappers.
R&B hitmaker Jhene Aiko recently sat down with DJ Khaled on his Amazon Music Podcast “The First One” for a new interview where among other things, she was asked about her Top 5 Rappers of all time.
“Don’t do this to me,” a worried Jhené said before announcing her top 5, beginning with Tupac Shakur, her idol. Jhené has already paid tribute to the West Coast classic throughout her live performances, including a version of “Keep Ya Head Up” for Rap-Up in 2013.
She gave a quick answer with a solid list of rappers. “Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg,” said Jhene. Jhené also paid tribute to the people that influenced her. Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Sade, and Brandy are among her favorite five vocalists, with whom she worked on the song “Ascension” from her 2015 album Trip.
Jhene recently assisted her boyfriend rapper, Big Sean, on the sensual visual for ‘Body Language‘ which also featured Ty Dolla Sign.
Jhené talked up about working with Drake on “July” on her 2011 mixtape, Sailing Soul, during her interview with Khaled (s). “I was always a fan,” Jhené stated, naming Nothing Was the Same as her favourite Drake album.
Her connection with her boyfriend Big Sean was also brought up. “When I first met Sean, the one thing I can say is he immediately felt familiar, like I knew him already and I was comfortable with him immediately because he just came into my session at No I.D.’s studio and I had never felt that feeling of like, I’ve met you before,” said Jhené. “Our friendship is really strong so that has made our relationship what it is, just that foundation of real friends who really know each other on that level.”
