Irv Gotti praises Cash Money Records.
Cash Money is one of the top rap labels in the game, having produced legends like Drake, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. The label which was founded in 1991 by Ronald “Slim” Williams and Bryan “Birdman” Williams, receives high praise Irv Gotti.
When Gotti sold his 50% equity stake in the master of Murder Inc. to Iconoclast early last year in a $300 million deal that also would include film and television ventures, he calculated that the platinum record might be worth up to $1 billion.
In a new interview on Earn Your Leisure, Murder Inc. Records mogul calls Cash Money the best label ever. “There’s no disputing Cash Money is the greatest label ever,” said Irv at the 1:34:00 minute mark. “Think about it, Juvenile’s ‘Ha,’ that sh*t was out over, what, 25 years ago? Them ni**as been hot all this time. They got Drake, they got Nicki. They’re the best label ever. No one’s even close to Cash Money, I don’t think… And if they ever wanted to sell, Baby and Slim could get a billi. Someone will give them a billion dollars, y’all.”

Irv Gotti hasn’t always been popular with Cash Money, despite his appreciation for the influential New Orleans label. After commenting on Birdman’s high-profile court spat with Lil Wayne last year, Gotti experienced the vengeance of the rapper. “I don’t get the Weezy and Birdman thing,” he said. “You say this guy is your son, you’ve known this guy forever. You should work that out. Just pay him, man! He deserves it. Not only did he put Cash Money Records on his back for all them years, he brought you f**king Nicki and Drake!”
