French Montana thinks making it in Hip-Hop is harder than NBA.
French Montana recently sat down with Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg for a new interview on Hot 97 as a promo run for his latest album “They Got Amnesia“. Among other things, French Montana talked about his career and said that it’s easier to make it in NBA than Rap Music.
“It’s like, you better off making it in the NBA than making it in Hip Hop,” said Montana. “NBA, what they got, twenty-eight teams? Fifteen players on every team.” Rosenberg added, “and they rotate all the time.”
The squads also “rotate all the time,” according to Rosenberg. Even merely joining with a team, according to Ebro Darden and Rosenberg, comes with “quite big money” as part of the arrangement.
“That’s in the hundreds,” French Montana replied. “You’re talkin’ about Hip Hop? You can’t even name ten people that’s hot every couple months. The odds is… anybody could do it if it was easy. So, you’re talkin’ about tryin’ to make it? The hustle gotta be relentless. Can’t take no for an answer.”
Montana also speaks on some of his biggest features, Chinx, Fat Joe & Ja Rule Verzuz, the Ye and Drake beef, shares rare stories about Big Pun, and more.
They Got Amnesia is the follow-up to French’s 2019 album Montana, which was released earlier this month. John Legend, Rick Ross, Saweetie, Kodak Black, Fabulous, Coi Leray, Latto, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Tjay, and Moneybagg Yo all make cameos on the 21-track record.
