Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre talk about the Super Bowl Half-Time show.
Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar are all hometown heroes for the Los Angeles audience, with Dre famously being Straight Outta Compton, Snoop Dogg hailing from Long Beach, and Lamar hailing from Compton as well. The addition of Mary J. Blige and Eminem to the supergroup is a promising possibility. NFL, Pepsi, and Rock Nation has made an announcement yesterday that Eminem, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg & Mary J. Blige will be performing at the Super-Bowl Halftime show next year. The event will take place on February 13, straight from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. NFL invited Dre and Snoop Dogg to the stadium for a short conversation about what we can expect from their performance in February. The promo also features behind-the-scenes shoots of Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige.
“The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career,” Dr. Dre said in a statement. “I’m grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment.”
“I’d never thought this moment would be happening right now. The fact that the NFL and Pepsi are allowing Hip-Hop to come into this game, I’m so honored and inspired to be able to come and do this show,” says Dr. Dre.
The artists made history as the very first hip-hop act to lead America’s greatest stage, amid rising tensions over racial discrimination in the NFL. Dre, whose actual name is Andre Young, spoke at a news conference on Thursday about the significance of diversity inclusion in the league and claimed his halftime performance will allow future artists to have the same chance. “Hip-hop is the biggest genre of music on the planet right now, so it’s crazy that it took all of this—and all of this time—for us to be recognized,” Dr. Dre said Thursday. “We’re going to do it so big that they can’t deny us anymore in the future.”
“Everybody around the whole will get to see why Dr. Dre is the greatest at what he do and how he assembled a strong team of people like us,” says Snoop Dogg.
I’m extremely excited to share the stage with my friends for the #PepsiHalftime Show.

I produce records for them and we all gonna go on stage and we gonna do our thing, we breaking barriers. Jay-Z is one of the main reasons why we’re sitting here [SoFi Stadium] right now.”
Snoop Dogg continues, “See that’s Hip-Hop, how it implemented in the NFL at high executive level, Jay-Z is part of our culture, we’re part of his culture So It’s a beautiful thing what the NFL is catching up. This is an every, a part of his [Dr. Dre] legacy that I’m honored to be a part of. I know how much it means for him…” then Dre reacts and said “the part of our legacy.” Then Snoop continues “Yeah but most importantly you are the Dawg… Big Dawg. So Imma play my role. You know I like being in the passenger seat when you drive the wheel. Eminem in the back, Kendrick over here. Mary J. Blige in the middle. We’re gonna make some noise.”
“Yeah, we gonna kill it man. We have 11-12 minutes to go out and try to do something spectacular. We have to figure our creatively how we just gonna blow people’s minds. We are going to put on a fantastic show. Everybody’s gonna leave here happy and excited for what we are about to do,” says Dre.
