Don Toliver appears on The Joe Budden Podcast.
Following the release of his new album “Love Sick“, Don Toliver is on the promo run as he made an appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast. During the conversation, Toliver explained the process behind making music and recalled an important piece of advice Kanye West gave him.
“Kanye always used to tell me ‘If you don’t feel it in the veins, it ain’t what it need to be’ and as soon as you hear it, it has to be something,” he told Budden and the podcast’s co-hosts.

Ye and Don previously worked together on Donda and the unfinished Donda 2. In a previous interview with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, Toliver praised Kanye for being transparent. “That’s one of the people in the industry for sure that is transparent with me and I thank God for it, for real,” he said at the time.
Elsewhere in the interview, Don Toliver revealed that he would love to work with Kendrick Lamar in future. The Texas native recalled meeting K. Dot in London and stated that he would let Kendrick lead if their collab ever happened.
During his appearance on the Joe Budden Podcast, Toliver also delved into the creative vision behind his most recent project. The album draws inspiration from disco culture, with a particular aesthetic nod to the iconic Studio 54 in New York City. However, Toliver revealed that he was truly galvanized by Michael Jackson’s association with the club.
“Just like the fact it’s like a thing to where the rules is like everybody has to party,” Toliver explained. “Not everybody’s getting in and the music and the whole scenery looks crazy. That’s what I fell in love with I really feel it after I found out Micheal Jackson went to Studio 54.”
