DJ Vlad Says He Discovered Eminem's Music Before Dr. Dre

DJ Vlad talks about discovering Eminem’s music before Dr. Dre And Jimmy Iovine.

Vlad Tv’s DJ Vlad recently sat down with bomb1st for an interview, where he was asked about anybody that he’s always wanted to interview or that he would love to interview but just never been able to. “Mean, I mean there’s millions of people. I mean if you talk about realistically, yeah It’s a good question actually,” he responded before naming Eminem as his dream interview.

“I mean, I’ve always felt like an Eminem interview, like me and Eminem being roughly the same age, having roughly the same background, having roughly the same experiences,” he continued. “I mean, I didn’t grow up in trailer homes, but I did grow up in projects, you know, in Springfield, Massachusetts. You know, and sort of this love of hip-hop and being white, and me being, you know, I discovered Eminem before Dre did. Like, when I was, you know, because I’ve been a hip-hop kid since elementary school.”

“So, I remember this website called Sandbox Automatic, which basically just sold independent vinyl. Okay. This was like 97, I think, 96, 97, something like that and I remember they had the Slim Shady LP no it’s Slim Shady EP right and there’s a lot of buzz over this new white kid from Detroit I remember I bought it you know I bought the CD because these old CDs are vinyl I remember driving around in it in the Bay and listening to it letting my friends listen to it, and they were like, who’s this? Like, I don’t know, I remember one of my homies was like, ah, no, black people, you don’t f–k with this. You know what I mean? But then Dre found him and then boom, next thing you know, he’s a superstar.”

“But I discovered Eminem before Dre and Jimmy Iovine and all these other people. Like, I was very early on that train. And I knew right away how talented he was and how much better he was than everyone else. And I remember I religiously followed every guest appearance he had on Ruckus and Bad vs. Evil and everything else like that. So I really followed his career very closely. So saying that, I think that if me and Em could sit down for like three hours, it would be the biggest interview he’s ever done. Easy. Easy. The biggest interview he’s ever done would be me and him because of what I do and who he is.”

“I don’t think there’s anyone that can sit down with him and pull off what I can pull off. But we’ve never been remotely close to an Eminem interview. I’ve only been around, I was in the same kind of outside area with him one time. We’ve never spoken. But he knows who I am. You know, I’m sure. You know, I mean, he’s referenced some of my, you know he’s reference of a light in the world martin uses some songs so he knows who i am but we’ve never been the same room you know i don’t know if people are trying to purposely try to keep us from each other something i don’t know that we did we have always wanted to but i don’t know if it’s gonna happen.”

In the comments, he wrote: “The title is a bit misleading. If you watch the interview, I just said I was listening to Eminem’s music a while before he got signed to Dre. I was never in a position to sign him or anything like that, which people associate with the term “discovered”.”
