Damon Dash picks between Kanye West and JAY-Z.
Damon Dash, the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella made an appearance on Podcast and Chill with MacG, where the music executive was asked to choose between Kanye West and JAY-Z as who was the greatest to represent the label.
“If it’s a choice between JAY and Kanye, I’m going with Kanye,” he said. “He’s more creative,” he responded to the surprised hosts. “If it’s about—now, I can speak on that because, you know, I worked with both of them, right? You know, Kanye is a true artist and he does it for the art and Jay-Z does it for the money. It’s two different things.”
Everyone is aware of the tension between Damon Dash and JAY-Z, as the two throwing shades at each other since the early 2000s when Hov sold the label to Def Jam.

After Dame tried to sell his debut album Reasonable Doubt as an NFT , Hov filed a lawsuit against him. JAY-Z was referred to as a “bully” and a “liar” by Dash in response. Nevertheless, there have been encouraging signals of a truce as JAY-Z professed his affection for his former business associate while receiving the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame award last year.
Last year, when Jay-Z was honoured with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, he also gave a shout-out to his former friend. “Shout-out to Dame,” he said. “I know we don’t see eye to eye, but I can never erase your accomplishments. And I appreciate you and I thank you for that.”
