Cardi B provides update on her new album release.
It’s been five years since we last got an album from Cardi B, when she released her debut effort “Invasion of Privacy” in 2018. Following the release of her latest two collaborations, “Jealousy” with Offset and “Bongos” with Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B finally provides some updates on her new second studio album release.
“You know what? I was indecisive but I was like, you know what? I should already start talking about the album because I’m going to be putting it out very soon,” she said in her interview with Ebro In The Morning. “But it’s like I have to watch it because I always feel like somebody watching me… it’s going to come out when it’s going to come out.”
She continued and teased that the highly anticipated new project will be released next year. “I can say that… it’s not going to come out this year,” she said.
“I’m just holding it because I feel like I’m missing a couple of things,” she added. “Then on top of that, everything just has to be like perfect from everything because I feel like people are expecting so much.”
Just recently in an interview with Vogue Magazine Mexico, Cardi teased new solo music. “I’m not going to release any more collaborations, I’m going to release my next solo single,” she revealed. “Right now I’m working on the cover art and ideas for the next record because it’s definitely coming up. Everyone always tells me I should put the record out now, they did when I released Wap [with Megan Thee Stallion] and when I released Up , but I always let them know I’m not going to wait long after all these singles. So stay tuned because it’s coming out very soon.”
Cardi B last released an album was in 2018, when she dropped her debut effort “Invasion of Privacy” through Atlantic Records, featuring guest appearances from Migos, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, SZA, Kehlani, Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage and YG. Triple-platinum album debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 with 255,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, with 103,000 coming from pure album sales. The album won the Best Rap Album award at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, which made Cardi B the first female to win the category as a solo artist.
