BabyTron talks about Eminem not being in his Detroit Top 5.
Detroit Rapper BabyTron recently sat down with Shawn Cotton for an interview on “Say Cheese” where he talks about being from Detroit and that he doesn’t have to prove to anyone that he from this city and not an outsider. Then the host asked BabyTron about how Detroit artists/people don’t put Eminem in their Top Detroit rapper because they don’t feel like he’s relatable to them.
“I can tell you why,” says BabyTron. “Bro that’s the thing, everybody gives Eminem his credit, like no one says Eminem is not a great rapper or one of the greatest rappers. It’s like around this city people just don’t listen to that sh*t because we talking about they not relating to that sh*t. That’s it I feel like but I don’t think nobody says he’s not like a great rapper or anything. He’s just not in the Top Detroit Rappers cause he’s not getting listened to around this city or he’s not around this b*tch. He’s not in Detroit represent or anything.”
The host then asked him if he’s in his Top 5 Detroit rappers. “My personal 5? No,” says BabyTron. “I’m not saying he doesn’t rank higher on the greatest rappers above other Detroiters, but he’s not in my Top 5 because he’s not saying anything I’m relating to I feel.”
“But he’s still the GOAT?” asks Shawn. “You can say that yeah,” says BabyTron.
Babytron is a young rapper native to Ypsilanti, Michigan who affiliates himself with the rap group ShittyBoyz. Babytron has a distinct, quick delivery method and slick punch lines in his raps.
Luka Troncic, a 24-track mixtape consisting of humorous punchlines and arcade game sounds, demonstrates that BabyTron knows more NBA players than Shaq. On “Where They At,” he raps, “Granddad was scoring in the city back with Bob Lanier,” nonchalantly slipping in a 1970s Pistons allusion.
