Ashanti made revelations about a wild ransom exchange demand from a producer.
Ashanti was a recent guest on The Breakfast Club for a new interview, where the “Foolish” hitmaker recalled a time when a producer demanded shower s*x for a couple of songs.
“I’ve been in a crazy situation with one producer. I think I might have talked about this once,” she said at around the 15:00 minute mark. “We did two records together. He was like, ‘OK, I’m not gonna charge you, you my homie.’ And then when it came time to put it on the album, he was like, ‘Well, let’s take a shower together.’”
Charlamagne Tha God said, “Jesus Christ!” in shock. The “Happy” singer, who has only been working with the composer for “a few of weeks,” did acknowledge that at first she assumed he was being humorous, but that when she discovered he was grave, she “had to make some phone calls” to ensure that “stuff was handled.”
She continued, “And I thought he was joking. And then he was like, ‘Nah, I’m dead serious. Let’s take a shower together and I’ll give you the records. If not, I need 40 racks per record.’ And again, I thought he was joking because we had been working with each other for like, I don’t know, a couple of weeks.” Ashanti then revealed that she handled the situation after “some phone calls”.
Despite not naming the allegedly abusive producer, Ashanti made a hint in her biography that she would eventually expose him.
The singer spoke about the “darkest time of their lives” on “Red Table Talk” last week together with her mother and her sister Kenashia, who had been a victim of domestic violence. “As the older sister who wants to protect my younger sister,” Ashanti said, “no one gets a book on how to handle this.”
