J. Cole performs ‘Friends’ with Daniel Caesar & Wale at the 2018 BET Awards.
The 2018 BET Awards took place earlier tonight which was filled with performances from some big acts. The show was kicked off by none other than Dreamville boss J. Cole.
Jermaine took the stage with Wale and Daniel Caesar to perform his song ‘Friends‘. “Friends” is one of the album’s greatest songs, and Cole, who has a flair for emotive composition and a commanding stage presence, delivered, while Daniel Caesar was a welcome addition. Cole’s performance, which was introduced by the legendary Jamie Foxx, occurred just a short time after Top Dawg Entertainment’s Jay Rock took the stage to perform his victorious Redemption song, “Win,” at the very start of the program.
Cole performed the highly politicized verses of the song live with the help of a large group of backup dancers while sporting a shirt that said, “You have the right not to remain silent.” The impressive concert came to a conclusion when the stage was lighted with the word “MEDITATE” in enormous, strong letters.
The typically solitary artist has recently been feeling more cooperative. He made an appearance in the video clip for Jay Rock’s brand-new song, “OSOM,” late last week.
It appeared on his latest ‘K.O.D.‘ Album. Watch the full performance below.
