A Guy used Eminem’s Lyrics to pick up a date on Tinder.
Who Knew that Someday Eminem’s classic track “Stan” will be used to pick up girls online. Recently a Reddit user J_Goddard tried something new on the dating app Tinder as he twisted the Lyrics of Eminem Classic hit “Stan” to make a new version to impress a girl.
If you’re familiar with the original “Stan” lyrics, you’ll notice that the male replaced the woman’s name for “Slim.” After asking if he may repost the exchange on Reddit, J Goddard disguised his potential dating partner’s name in an apparently rare act of Internet civility. Yes, she said.
J Goddard’s pick-up effort didn’t go so well, but the woman was a nice sport about it. In addition, other Reddit users volunteered to buy him drinks. Nice. To be fair to Eminem, the words are from his song “Stan,” which is a dramatized story of one of Em’s fans gradually unravelling. In the song, “Stan” kills his child’s mother in a fit of wrath about his inability to get Eminem’s attention.
Even the girl replied in the same way as she too quoted her own version of Stan’s Lyrics. After receiving some kind of reply from his new crush, the guy couldn’t resist but answer, “That Was brilliant!“. “Stan” is one of Eminem’s most well-known tracks, having been dubbed a “cultural milestone” and described by About.com as “Eminem’s finest song.” Giles Foden, a writer, and literary critic, compared Eminem to Robert Browning in his analysis of “Stan” in The Guardian. Eminem replied to GLAAD’s criticism of his lyrics by performing “Stan” at the 2001 Grammy Awards, with singer Elton John singing Dido’s lines.
Stan was nominated for several MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Song at the MTV Europe Music Awards, Video of the Year, Best Rap Video, Best Direction, and Best Cinematography. At the MuchMusic Video Awards, it was named Best International Artist Video.
