Tory Lanez responds to Cassidy with the new song “When Its Dark”.
Last week, Cassidy dissed Tory Lanez on the new song called “Perjury“, and the Canadian artist has officially dropped a response track called “When Its Dark“. The new song is over ASAP Rocky’s “Ghetto Symphony“, and features shots at the 39-year-old rapper from Pennsylvania.
Tory rushed to Instagram to rejoice and explain that he’s going to make a lot of money while also changing the game “When It’s Dark” as an NFT, “One dollar for the NFTs, some of those copies is going for $60,000! See how small the seller’s list is, it’s over! I cracked the whole sh*t. No more middle man. All you artists f**k your label! Y’all gone get paid and your fans gone get paid.”
“I leave Cass body in that casket his career is in / My prime to your prime, dawg, it’s no comparison,” raps Tory on his verse. “What you gon’ prepare, some Smack DVD appearances / Ding, ding, ding, 15 seconds of fame is up / Was in them hotels with R. Kelly, we should flame you up.”
The artwork for the new seven-minute diss track, dubbed “Plagiarism,” depicts Lanez wounded and injured. The title alludes to Tory Lanez’s repeated accusations of plagiarising Cassidy’s lyrics, first in 2017 and then again in July of this year.
The whole thing between the two MCs started Lanez made his second appearance on Funk Flex show for a freestyle, where he spits bars over a classic Cassidy song “I’m a Hustla”. Then Cassidy accused Tory of stealing his lyrics and flow, and that happened in both of his freestyles on the Funk Flex show. After that, the Canadian artist responds to Cassidy and said that he was just paying homage as he was one of his favorite artists.
Lanez rapped over an instrumental of Cassidy’s and repeated some of his words in the freestyle, which Lanez addresses in the track with ” I’ll steal a ni**a’s flow and what?” so Cassidy chose to wax rhapsodic about it.
Cassidy went on to express why he first felt insulted, adding, “He feel like just because he [an] artist with some songs out, that him rappin’ to my beat is like, I should feel privileged. Like I should feel like he doin’ something for me, like I should feel grateful. F**k outta here.”
On August 4, Royce Da 5’9 taunted Lanez with a tweet that read, “You gon respond @torylanez? I like when you in that bag,” but it’s unclear if Royce had anything to do with Lanez’s decision to respond. Tory honored Royce’s request and gave Cassidy an official answer to his new freestyle. The rapper takes on A$AP Rocky’s “Ghetto Symphony” and flies through the beat with opulent flexes before blasting the battle rapper.
The new song by Tory Lanez is also in the promotion of his new album which will release on the NFT platform.
“Old ni**as talking but I ain’t hearing em, I put fear in em
I leave Cas’ body in that casket his career is in
My prime and your prime, dawg it’s no comparison
What you gon’ compare, some Smack DVD appearances?” Tory raps.
The latest song, named “Lullaby,” comes after the 7-minute “Plagiarism,” which was published only last week, and “Perjury,” which was released in early August. Cass raps over a thundering trap rhythm on “Lullaby,” which he brags about seconds into the song. Cass then goes for Tory’s hairline and reacts to Tory’s boastful statements on his follow-up track “When It’s Dark.”
