Fat Joe drops a new song “Sunshine (The Light)”.
Fat Joe hasn’t been releasing any music but he was still in the news, due to his IG interview streams with other rappers. Today he makes his return with some new material as Fat Joe enlists producers DJ Khaled, Amorphous, and Cool & Dre for his new single called “Sunshine (The Light)“. The track samples Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” and “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross.
“Sunshine (The Light)” follows Fat Joe’s collaboration with Dre, Family Ties, which featured 11 tracks and guest appearances from Jeremih, Bryson Tiller, Cardi B, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Lil Wayne, and others. A few years before, he collaborated with long-time collaborator Remy Ma on Plata O Plomo, which featured French Montana, Sevyn Streeter, The-Dream, and BJ The Chicago Kid on guest appearances and created the smash hit track “All The Way Up.”
Joey Crack, like Amorphous, experiments with Rihanna’s voice, which act as the song’s chorus. He then uses the legendary Vandross instrumental to create a new song that has a familiar vibe to it. The video, which is credited to DJ Khaled, Joe, and Amorphous, also features Diddy:
Fat Joe is shown on a yacht alongside his contemporaries Diddy, Dre, and DJ Khaled in the Ivan Berrios directed music video. DJ Amorphous is shown later in the film doing his thing on the boards, surrounded by the Miami skyline and Fat Joe’s crew smoking Cuban cigars. All of the track’s elements, as well as the visual, come together to form a whole that is the ideal of luxury rap. From allusions to notable fashion designers to flexing his international stash sites, the Bronx native delivers a variety of bars showcasing his wealth: “Stash pesos in Turks and Caicos/Dapper Dan Don, the first to break those/Now back to Caicos/Throw your Rollies in the sky, my guys’ll take those”.
Along with the single, he also released the official video for it which features a cameo from Diddy.
The song “Sunshine (The Light)” is the follow-up to 2019’s Family Ties, a collaboration between Fat Joe and Dre that had 11 tracks and appearances from Jeremih, Bryson Tiller, Cardi B, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Lil Wayne, and other artists. A few years earlier, he collaborated with longtime friend Remy Ma on the album Plata O Plomo, which included French Montana, Sevyn Streeter, The-Dream, and BJ The Chicago Kid and produced the massive smash song “All The Way Up.”
The Terror Squad CEO’s first release since the 2019 EP Family Ties–a collaboration with Dre from the aforementioned production team Cool & Dre–is “Sunshine (The Light).” Fat Joe has been very quiet since the publication of the eleven-track album–until the release of this latest track.
