Lil Wayne drops a new song “Green and Yellow”.
After announcing it recently during his appearance on ‘Skip and Shannon: Undisputed,‘ Lil Wayne has released a new theme song “Green and Yellow” for his favourite team, Green Bay Packers.
Weezy apparently told Skip and Shannon: Undisputed that he finished the tune this week during his latest visit. “I did a song before [“Green and Yellow”] and we had a good turnout,” Lil Wayne said while sharing how the song came about this time around. “It was successful. We had good results and we’re trying to do it again this time.”
“I spent three days working on it as well. I don’t do that,” he stated emphatically. Many of the team’s players are mentioned in the song, and Wayne has already received almost 200K likes on his Instagram page after uploading a clip of it.
The new song, which bears the same name, features lyrics that represent the team’s current cornerstone players. The original “Green And Yellow” was published in 2011 to coincide with the Packers’ Super Bowl XLV win. The New Orleans rapper, who many think is a Saints supporter, subsequently revealed that he became a Packers fan when the club won the Super Bowl in his hometown in 1997. After the Midwestern team triumphed, Wayne’s father brought home Packers paraphernalia, and the rest is history, according to Wayne.
“My late father, Reginald McDonald, he attended that Super Bowl—he wasn’t a fan of any of the teams there. It was just so amazing that the Super Bowl was in New Orleans,” Wayne explained. “He came home with Green Bay championship towels … cups, hats—anything that was being given, he had it, he brought it to the house. From that moment on, I was a Green Bay Packers fan.”
When creating the new joint, Lil Wayne stated, he had to adhere to a few restrictions “They had some specific rules about the song,” he told co-hosts Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe. “They don’t want nobody to hear it before the team hears it, obviously. They want them to hear it all at once. That’s how I want it to be as well just so I want them to be able to hear it. And I want them to run through a wall after that.”
It is a new version of his remix over Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Black and Yellow‘ which was released way back in 2011 in celebration of the Green Pay Packers Super Bowl Championship in 2011. Listen to the new song below.
