The Weeknd’s first new song since the release of his fourth album, After Hours, in March, is “Smile” (which EW named among our best albums of 2020 so far). The COVID-19 epidemic halted his accompanying tour, which was set to begin in June. Legends Never Die, Juice WRLD’s third studio album, was released posthumously in July and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He also made an appearance on Eminem’s January song “Godzilla.”
The song’s lyrics focus around Juice Wrld and the Weeknd discussing their inner demons, heartbreak, and willingness to make sacrifices in order to make their relationship work with their partner. Through the sentence, Juice Wrld unknowingly foreshadows and mentions his 2019 death.
