Drake drops ‘Duppy Freestyle’ Pusha T & Kanye West Diss.
Pusha T’s new album ‘DAYTONA’ is out now and he took clear shots at Drake and Birdman on the track called ‘Infrared‘. Now Drake responds to the diss by a new freestyle called ‘Duppy Freestyle‘ where he takes aim at Pusha T and G.O.O.D. Music Boss Kanye West.
The word “duppy” is Jamaican patois meaning an evil spirit or ghost, hence Drake is basically referring to Pusha-T as a malicious spirit in the song’s title. Drake indicates in the song that he ghostwrote songs for Kanye West in Wyoming.
Drake concedes that Miller collaborated on “a couple of [verses]” on “Duppy Freestyle,” but claims that Pusha-insult T’s is disingenuous, given that West, who executive produced Daytona, has previously sought Drake’s assistance in songwriting.
October’s Very Own even mentions Yeezy by name later in the song. “Tell ’Ye we got an invoice comin’ to you/Considering we just sold another 20 for you.” Drizzy doesn’t stop there, however, extending his critical words for G.O.O.D. Music (“You’re not even top 5, as far as your label talent goes”) and even accusing the two of being afraid of Virgil Abloh (“I could never have a Virgil in my circle and hold him back, ‘cause he makes me nervous/…You ni**as leeches and serpents”).
