Lupe Fiasco honours Virgil Abloh with the new song “V.F.”
Recently, the iconic Louis Vuitton and Off-White designer Virgil Abloh passed away at the age of 41. The Rockford, Illinois artist had been battling cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer for over 2 years after getting diagnosed in 2019. Virgil Abloh had a great relationship with several musicians and impacted the lives of many. While most celebrities shared tributes through Social Media, Vic Mensa dedicated a new song “What You Taught Us” to Virgil Abloh.
Now Lupe Fiasco also decided to honour Virgil Abloh through his lyrics. Virgil Abloh speaks about embracing one’s creativity and inhibitions in the intro, and Lupe pays tribute to his late friend — who collaborated closely with the Drill Music In Zion creator on his 2020 EP HOUSE — with a heartfelt verse that mentions everything from his signature designs to his influence on popular culture.
The Chicago rapper shared a new song called “V.F.”, the initials that stand for Virgil Forever. “I’m trying Virg, I really am…but everytime the beat drop…I breakdown…,” he tweeted. “hang in there, Champion. I love and respect you very much and I’m here if you need me,” Royce da 5’9″ told Fiasco.
