Doja Cat previewed Vegas at Coachella the previous month
Planet Her, Doja Cat’s album from last year, is still doing well on the charts, with smash song after hit single.
But today, we have a new single from the singer-rapper called “Vegas,” which is the first single from the upcoming Baz Luhrmann Elvis biopic’s soundtrack. The song was released a few weeks ago by RCA Records. Big Mama Thornton’s 1952 rock & roll tune ‘Hound Dog’ is interpolated.

Doja performed a segment of the song at her Coachella concert over two weekends last month, which included gospel singer Shonka Dukureh, who plays Thornton in the film. It’s now available on DSPs. The singer adds her signature rap-singing style to the upbeat track, which you can listen to or watch below. The film, which stars Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker, the legendary rock icon’s controversial manager, will be released in theatres on June 24.
RCA will release the complete Elvis Presley soundtrack this summer. Although a spokeswoman for the label informed Variety that “the album will have variants on Presley content that incorporate contributions from a number of major musicians from different genres,” the specific nature of the accompanying record has yet to be announced.
Doja will also be featured on Post Malone’s next single ‘Happy.’ Beginning July 8, she will embark on a tour with The Weeknd.
