Lil Durk drops a new song “Backdoor”.
After giving us ‘Stay Down‘ with 6LACK and Young Thug a couple of months ago, Lil Durk returns with some new material. He has been mourning to death of his longtime friend King Von, who was shot dead last month. He decided to drop a new song called “Backdoor” which is in memory of the late Chicago rapper.
“Backdoor” follows the release of Durk’s previous singles “Stay Down” featuring 6LACK and Young Thug, as well as “The Voice,” which is also the speculated title of his upcoming studio album. In May, he released Just Cause Y’all Waited 2, which had 15 tracks and guest appearances from Lil Baby, Polo G, Gunna, and G Herbo. With 57,000 album equivalent units sold, the album debuted in the top five on the Billboard 200, giving Durk a well-deserved Gold certification.
From 2019’s “Crazy Story” remix and “Twin Nem” through 2020’s “All These Ni**as,” “Baguette’s,” and “Down Me,” Lil Durk and King Von collaborated often. Both artists are from the O’Block neighbourhood of Chicago. Von gained prominence as a result of his association with Durk.
The song’s release was followed by a video. A “subtle but touching” ode to King Von is included in the film, which was directed by Jerry Production. Durk flaunts Von’s iconic O’Block chain in front of the camera while wearing it in the video. Before the song was made public, Durk shared a text exchange he had with Von in an Instagram Stories. Durk told Von he would be recording the music video wearing the chain on that day, and Von replied that he would get it cleaned for him.

Apart from paying honour to King Von, Durk also discusses his own personal hardships and warns about the risks of running the streets in the song. Durk mentions his success, fake love, and pledges to make Von proud in the years to come over the piano-led music.
