In a Beats By Dre ad, Lil Baby and Ja Morant premiered new songs
Lil Baby is already planning his summer invasion. The Atlanta rapper starred with Memphis Grizzlies forward Ja Morant in a new Beats by Dre ad on Saturday night. Lil Baby’s “Dark Mode” single provided the soundtrack for the 90-second ad, in which he muses on his place in the game while keeping his eye on the ball and keeping an eye out for his inner-circle. There are several basketball allusions in the song, as well as a few NBA name-drops.
“Put the whole team on my back, I play through injuries/I leave blood and sweat out on the court and get a victory […]” Baby raps on the track.
ILLIMITEWORLD directed the Beats commercial, which debuted during the NBA playoffs. You can watch it above on YouTube.
“Ja has been one of my favorite players to watch. We’ve been locked in,” said Lil Baby in a press release. “This is not my first time partnering with Beats, but we took it up a notch with this original song. The world gets to experience ‘Dark Mode’ for the first time in a way that’s crazy!”
It’s unknown whether “Dark Mode” is a standalone track or part of a broader project. Lil Baby’s most recent solo album, My Turn, was released in 2020, roughly 16 months well Before The Voice of the Heroes with Lil Durk.
Baby’s newest single joins the already lengthy list of tunes he’s released in 2022, which includes “Right On,” “In a Minute,” and “Frozen.”
